002; Social Calendar. [23 May 2010|07:12pm]
I am pleased to announce that "Student Living For Your Budget", an information session run by Daughters of America was a great success! Entertaining prospective freshmen to post-graduate students, all of us from Daughters of America were excited to see such a turnout for what was a quickly put-together session. As vice-president for Daughters of America I would like to thank all those that attended, as well as to our speakers who donated their time.

Such interest has prompted discussion towards making such sessions a regular occurrence on the Daughters of America social calendar! An addition, I feel, that shall be a welcome one.

On that note, please be aware that we are now taking suggestions for our annual Daughters of America Ball theme on our website: www.daughtersofamerica.com/charityball. In the current political climate we would like to make everyone aware that 40% of sales from tickets bought will go towards "Refugee Aid: New York City", a charity helping to house, clothe, and find employment for American refugees in our fair city.

Thank you,

Grace Elizabeth "Betty" Hart
Vice-President, Daughters of America

001; New York University. [21 May 2010|02:36pm]
Firstly, I should like to offer my sincere congratulations to all of those who recently graduated from New York University. In such social upheaval and difficult times, those who strive in continuing their education should be praised.

Many of us have recently been shocked by the withdrawl of the Weymouth family's contributions towards our city's foremost University, and although there is little comfort to be had from such untoward news, we must be hopeful that Dr. Grauer will make the best choices when it comes to the protection of our education.

The Daughters of America, a society dedicated to future of our generation, will be meeting today at 14:30 at Washington Square Park in order to discuss the impacts of this news on ourselves and fellow students. We will also be considering methods in order to decrease the cost of "Student Living For Your Budget" and our Treasurer, Nancy Hall, will be giving advice on economizing and managing your cash responsibly. Non-members are, of course, welcome.
